Ugly Ducklings Workshop
Venus Theatre Production, Washington, DC
This workshop involves a hands-on dramatic component, where 30 minutes of key scenes from Gage's play Ugly Ducklings are read or presented by participants. This play explores the impact of homophobic policies and harassment on counselors and campers at a girls' summer camp. The readings are followed by a screening of the docmentary, "Ugly Ducklings," based on Gage's play. This is followed by exercises from the Ugly Ducklings Educational Kit, designed to initiate discussion about participants' experiences with these issues.
